本来の話では、ベンジャミン・フランクリンが借りたのは、珍しい本。借りた相手は、自分に反対してきた議員。（だったはずです）

「自分にならできることで頼ってくれるのは嬉しい」ということと、

「一度親切にした相手にはその後も親切にする」という2つの効果があります。

一つ目の効果については、ベンジャミン・フランクリンは言及してなかったか、あるいは気付いてなかったと思います。ですが2つ目の効果については言及していたと思います。2つ目の効果には一貫性の原則とかの名前がついてます。元は古いことわざで、それが正しかったんだというお話です。

10ドルの借金をたとえ話にしたのはまずくて、相手に頼んで受け取るべきなのはちょっとした便宜です（その便宜が成り行きの結果として、10ドルの借金になることはあるかもしれませんが、いきなり持ち出すべき例ではないです。借金すべきだ、みたいに見えてしまいます）。たぶん、これを書いた人はあんまりわかってないのかもしれません。元がRedditへのポストなので、しょうがないのかも。
