片山さんは、「クルマと家電の違い」というテーマでこんなお話をしてくださった。
「人類は長い間、馬と生活をともにしてきました。馬と移動することで、見たことのない景色や、新しい友人と出会うことができたのです」。
「ただし、馬はただの移動の道具ではありません。同じ屋根の下で暮らすという意味では家族ですし、一緒に敵と戦う時は相棒でもあります。そしてお腹が減ると蹄（ひづめ）をカンカンと鳴らして合図を送り、体を洗うと気持ちよさそうに寄り添ってきます。言葉は通じないけれど、そこにはコミュニケーションがあるのです」。
「クルマというのは、こうした馬に取って代わる存在です。便利ならばそれでいいという家電と違うのは、当然だと思いませんか？」
